There are several methods to connect to a wireless network. You can connect directly from the connection icon on the system tray. However, there are times when the connection icon is not on the system tray. For purposed of consistency, we will only cover one of these methods. Below are the steps to connect to a wireless network.
STEP 1
Go to the start menu and select Control Panel.

STEP 2
Click the Network Connections icon.

STEP 3
Right click on Wireless Network Connection, and select View Available Wireless Networks.

STEP 4
Select the wireless network to which you want to connect, and click the Connect button.

STEP 5
Input the network key and click the Connect button.
NOTE: Check with your network administrator or wireless Internet provider if you do not know the security key.

STEP 6
Wait for Windows to establish a wireless connection.

STEP 7
Check for the Connected status on the selected wireless network.
NOTE: The network you connect to would have a yellow star on it.

Check for the wireless connection icon on the system tray. If you have successfully connected, this is how your wireless connection icon would look like:

If you are not connected, your wireless connection icon would have a red X on it and a message saying that it is not connected:
