There are several methods to connect to a wireless network. You can connect directly from the connection icon on the system tray. However, there are times when the connection icon is not on the system tray. For purposed of consistency, we will only cover one of these methods. Below are the steps to connect to a wireless network.
STEP 1
Go to the Windows Start icon and click Network.

STEP 2
Click Network and Sharing Center on the menu bar.

STEP 3
Click the Connect to a network link.

STEP 4
Select from the list of wireless providers.

STEP 5
If the network you want to connect to requires a security key, enter it in the box provided and then click the Connect button.
NOTE: Check with your network administrator or wireless Internet provider if you do not know the security key.

STEP 6
Wait for Windows to establish the wireless connection.

STEP 7
Once connected, Windows will show a confirmation screen.

Check for the wireless connection icon on the system tray. If you have successfully connected, this is how your wireless connection icon would look like:

If you are not connected, your wireless connection icon would have a red X on it and a message saying that it is not connected:
