What is spyware?

Spyware is computer software that is installed secretly on a computer to intercept or take partial control over the user's interaction with the computer, without the user's knowledge. As the term suggests, spyware can secretly monitor the user's behavior and can collect various types of personal information.

Mainly, spyware has become a menace in today's computer age due to its ability to interfere with the user's control over the computer. These abilities include installing additional software, redirecting web browser activity, opening web browser windows automatically and accessing websites without the user's consent. Spyware can even change computer settings resulting in slow connection speeds or even loss of Internet connectivity.

Examples of spyware programs are:

          -  CoolWebSearch
          -  Internet Optimizer
          -  Movieland
          -  Zango
          -  WinTools
